It’s a good rule of thumb that when your children are primary age, they generally shouldn’t be doing more than two weekly, organised, out-of-school activities. If they’re football mad, maybe both activities are football. If they want to take up something new, they should drop something else in order to do it. This works very well for lots of children, who really enjoy doing gym or taekwondo for a year or so, but have no desire to do it for ever.
